Latifah Saafir Workshop - Registration Open to Non-Members!

We're so excited to host Modern Quilt Guild Co-Founder, Latifah Saafir for a workshop on Sunday, September 17th from 11-6.

Trained as an engineer, with a passion for sewing (I think I might be describing a number of guild members here...), Latifah creates meticulously crafted quilts with graphic, modern designs. Here are some favorites, but you can see more here:
Convergence

Wet Matches

Play Around the World

The Big Log

Buzzed Birds

She is also coming out with her first fabric collection. The line pays homage to Latifah’s “wonder years” growing up in Los Angeles where graffiti and street art influenced her explorations in creativity. “The line is not reflective of the art itself,” she said. “Instead, it is about celebrating the environments where it is found and the graphic elements that inspire it.”

On September 17th, Latifah will lead a workshop on her Pickled Beets quilt at Gather Here.

Come make this bold, modern quilt that was designed in homage to the classic pickled beets motif. In this fun class you will learn paper piecing and gain skill in curved piecing.  While this is a great class for all levels, if you haven't sewed curves or paper-pieced before, this is a great way to get experience with both. Use the techniques you'll learn to make this quilt your own!

Registration is now open to EVERYONE (yay!), so register now, before it fills up! Cost is $145 (for non-CMQG members) and you can register here.
